A GMO, or genetically modified organism, may be a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetics have been modified by using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates genes in these organisms that do not normally occur in nature. Many agriculture companies will use GMO plants or crops so they can produce their own pesticides internally, killing bugs or other creatures before they can harm the plant. GMO plants are also more resistant to herbicide treatment, and may also be more resistant to certain diseases.
Eyecheck believes you have the right to know what is in your food or supplements. Eyecheck uses non-GMO ingredients in their supplements. 75% of packaged foods in the US contain GMO’s and the federal government does not require labels to disclose this information.
Crops that are likely GMO include corn, soy, papaya, summer squash, canola, eggs, milk and meat.
